Check-ups, cleanings, fillings, reconstructions and inlays. The foundation of your oral health.

General dentistry basically refers to the most common restorative and preventive procedures in a dental clinic: oral hygiene, cavity treatment, reconstructions, inlays and crowns.
It is something simple to do and fundamental for maintaining or achieving oral health. Plaque build-up can lead to many problems, such as: gingivitis, cavities, halitosis (bad breath), bone loss, gastrointestinal problems, and in pregnant women, risk of premature birth.
That is why it is always recommended to have a dental check-up and/or cleaning every 6-12 months depending on each case.
To make the treatment as comfortable as possible, we always focus on working calmly and gently. Additionally, we optionally apply a small amount of local anesthesia to the areas being treated.

To prevent cavity formation, it is very important to maintain proper oral hygiene. How? By performing a thorough brushing technique every day and reducing sugary foods and drinks as much as possible.
Cavities appear as a result of food residue accumulation in the mouth, which through saliva action becomes acid and gradually deteriorates the tooth enamel structure.
First the cavity is cleaned and then the lost dental structure is replaced with composite. This is what we call a filling.

When a cavity is so deep that it affects the dental nerve, the treatment required is root canal therapy. What we do is clean the cavity, remove the damaged nerve and thoroughly disinfect the entire interior of the tooth.
Then the tooth is reconstructed using an inlay or a crown depending on how damaged the tooth was. Mission accomplished! Tooth saved.

Inlays and crowns are the treatment of choice when we encounter a very extensive cavity or a fractured tooth. For this procedure, we clean the area with the cavity or shape the fracture area, scan with the intraoral scanner and send to the laboratory for fabrication. They can be made of either ceramic or resin.
In just two simple visits, you will have your tooth as good as new.
